Heat, water, humidity, dry heat and some water again. Perfect mosquito breeding weather. We deal with this almost every day during the Summer. Sure, we try to make sure there's no standing water anywhere near our home, but with all the sudden rain, it's hard to avoid every puddle. No one wants to be indoors all the time, and with BBQ's, house parties, and outdoor events, being outside is a necessity. So is protection from mosquitos!
I was given the opportunity to share a great offer for the Thermacell Bristol Lantern for Mosquito Control.
Save 20% off an order of $40+, by using promo code: "FamilyGuide2016" at checkout on Thermacell.com. Offer expires December 31, 2016.
The purpose of the Thermacell Lantern is mosquito control. So, to maintain the potency of the product, it doesn't arrive with everything in place. However, setting up the Thermacell Lantern was really easy. Just insert three AAA batteries into the base of the lantern, insert an original repellent mat, screw in the butane cartridge and turn the top to the ON position, followed by the START. Note: everything is included, except the batteries.
Once everything is in place, and you've started the lantern, you will notice a light shining from the lantern (see photo below). One option that's really cool about this lantern is you don't have to keep the light on in order to use it. So, you're not using more battery life than necessary. When you do want the light in the lantern to shine, just turn the switch at the base of the lantern from OFF to ON. It's that easy!
DOES IT WORK?
Well, we've been in and out of the house, hanging out for 4 days now and although I've seen a fly or two, I have no bites anywhere on my body. More importantly, my kids haven't been bitten by any flying insect. There's no way for me to measure whether or not the fly I did see was 15 feet away, but the important thing for me is that I can hang out in my backyard without having to shoo away anything, which usually is the point where I go back inside the house.
I was able to enjoy being outdoors. Even while it drizzled, so it's safe to assume this actually works and my experience isn't just a coincidence!
